Qemetica's soda segment includes four production plants in Europe - in Poland (in Janikowo and Inowrocław), in Germany (Stassfurt) and in Romania (Govora).
The location of the production facilities gives us a unique advantage in the market in terms of the reliability and cost of our deliveries to all customers, mainly in Central Europe.
Soda is one of the key raw materials in the chemical industry and Qemetica's largest business (almost 70 per cent of revenues). Qemetica is the second largest producer of soda ash and baking soda in European Union.
Soda in various varieties is produced by Qemetica Soda Polska S.A. (plants in Janikowo, Inowrocław), Qemetica Soda Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG (Stassfurt) and Qemetica Soda Romania S.A. (Ramnicu Valcea - production discontinued in September 2019). The factories in Inowrocław and Stassfurt produce soda ash and sodium bicarbonate, the factory in Janikowo produces soda ash.
The further development of the soda business focuses on optimising production efficiency, energy transformation and offering speciality products. The construction of a new sodium bicarbonate production line in Germany allowed the portfolio to be expanded to include, among other things, sodium bicarbonate for dialysis - the most specialised variety of this product.
We are the only manufacturer of soda ash in Poland and the second largest in the European Union. More than half of the soda ash we manufacture is used in the glass industry. We also manufacture high-quality baking soda, which is used in, among others, the pharmaceutical and food industries. The soda business comprises three plants: two in Poland and one in Germany.
