Proven performance

Our sustainability performance is verified by major global climate initiatives

Science Based Targets initiative

Our CO2 reduction target of 63% in 2033 versus 2019 has been validated as compliant with the Paris Agreement by SBTi, the most recognised global initiative supporting the fight against climate change.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a climate action organization that develops standards, tools, and guidelines to enable companies and financial institutions to set greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets in line with what is necessary to keep global warming below alarming levels and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Qemetica has committed to reducing CO2 emissions from Scope 1 and 2 by 63% by 2033 compared to the 2019 baseline year, and has successfully undergone validation by SBTi as one of the first major industrial companies in Poland. Our target for 2033 has been recognized by SBTi as aligned with the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels, with efforts to limit it to 1.5°C, in order to reduce the risks and impacts of climate change.

More information about the Science Based Targets is available at: https://sciencebasedtargets.org/

Carbon Disclosure Project

Being transparent, we disclose our climate impact and water management data to the Carbon Disclosure Project, a global non-profit charity.

CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. The world’s economy looks to CDP as the gold standard of environmental reporting with the richest and most comprehensive dataset on corporate and city action.

Qemetica has been disclosing its climate change information since 2021 and water security information since 2022. We are continuously working to improve our score and expand the scope of our disclosure.

In 2023, we received a "C" score in both climate change and water security categories, placing us in the Awareness band, which is the global average.
We are committed to gradually improving our rating to better reflect our sustainability efforts and ambitions.

United Nations Global Compact

We have been part of the United Nations Global Compact - the world's largest initiative bringing together businesses working for sustainable development - since 2020.

The United Nations Global Compact is the world's largest initiative bringing together sustainable business. It is a non-binding United Nations pact to encourage businesses and companies around the globe to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and to report on their implementation.

Qemetica Group has been a member of the United Nations Global Compact since 2020. By joining this initiative, we are able to draw on the knowledge and experience of this international organisation in the area of sustainable development, but also to bring our own extensive experience related to activities for climate protection, especially in the areas of energy and minimising the impact of production on the environment.

All UNGC principles are reflected in our internal regulations and actively promoted among the Group's business partners. Our partners are required to comply with our Business Partner Code, which is evidenced by relevant clauses incorporated into the contracts binding between us. The Code defines the basic principles of respecting human rights, environmental protection and business ethics.

Eco Vadis

The three Qemetica Group companies are among the top rated companies and have been awarded the Eco Vadis silver medal, successively improving their rating.

EcoVadis is a global independent platform that assesses companies' sustainability performance and practices in areas such as environmental, social, ethical, and supply chain responsibility. It provides businesses with a sustainability rating based on their policies, actions, and achievements. EcoVadis evaluates companies using a standardized methodology, allowing for comparison across industries and regions. Many businesses use EcoVadis ratings to assess the sustainability performance of their suppliers and partners.

Three companies from our Group were awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, confirming our top performance among rated entities.

All of them have improved their rating compared to the previous year. Qemetica Soda Deutschland and Qemetica Silicates are among the top 9% of companies rated by EcoVadis, both scoring 68 points.

Qemetica Soda Polska achieved an overall score of 63 points, placing it among the top 17% of performers in EcoVadis ratings.

Affordable and Clean Energy

We are progressively increasing the share of renewables in pursuit of the goal of phasing out coal energy by 2033. We implement innovations that improve the energy efficiency of our production, conduct our own research projects and invest in clean technology start-ups.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

With innovation, we are improving the efficiency of our production. We are committed to growth combined with reducing our carbon footprint and pressure on ecosystems. We are also dedicated to ensuring decent and safe working conditions. Our ambition is zero accidents, with a 2029 LTIF target of 1.5.
